Statement
All of
my photographs are what the camera saw. None are darkroom or digital
creations, nor are they significantly manipulated beyond some cropping or
enlarging, nor are they staged. All are concrete things that any observer
in the same place under comparable conditions could see.
T.S.
Eliot said that great poetry communicates before it is understood. Art
should do the same thing. With no frame of reference for its anchor to
reality (unless you look really, really closely), my work challenges the
viewer not to decipher some meaning I have attached as if it were a puzzle
to be solved, but to engage the mystery of the work on its own terms and
its impact on the viewer. I hope, in doing so, the photographs murmur to a
place inside us that we all share, before they are understood.
